Wondering what the male/female ratio is here......
I expected to see numerous having cast a vote for the "both/neither" category, with the number of characters on this board.
Me too, lol, that's why I put it there...as well as that there are folks who are both/neither (guess I've watched too many late night Discovery Health shows!)
What I find most interesting is that there are 53 views of this thread but only 26 votes.
Hmm, 9 females to 20 males. Rather more of us than I expected, since so often I discover that I am the only female amongst all the up-front pod people on the YVR-YYZ run.
My initial suspicion is that most other women have greater levels of common sense than do I, and would consider an 0800 departure from YVR to be unreasonably early in the day.
Or is it just more women than men as a whole respond to surveys?
I not a statistician but I'm thinking that less than 40 votes....as I write this....is not a valid indicator of the actual ratio.
I'm trying to remember if we had to list our gender when we signed up? If so and providing folks were honest....don't really know why they wouldn't be....then maybe Randy can supply us the ratio for all members.
Well, considering that the 'gender' question included a provision for those who wished to identify as 'both/neither/whatever' or somesuch of the sort, I'd think that people would have little cause to list their gender incorrectly.
Even when I ponder the 'lady beware' aspects of participating in an Internet forum, I remain mindful that I, and most others here, are writing under the comfortable protection of a pseudonym. I doubt that I have much to worry here concerning creepy stalkazoids (and believe me, that's a consideration in many other situations), considering that they are unlikely to be able to find one each 'Mevlannen' via a phone-directory search.
Getting a bit off-topic here I am, but then again, it's almost time for lunch and the teapot is calling. Am enjoying this conversation!
Wow, 17 females to 35 males.
Is there an option for recreational vehicle ?
I'm a man, baby!
Oddly enough this question always bothers me. When I took genetics there were all these conditions you could have that could result in multiple sex chromosomes and an emasculate male identity. Then there were my psych classes that discussed the difference between sex and gender. I've never quite gotten over the confusion.
me is femaile!
I agree. The best way I have seen to approach sex/gender typing is to have "Male/Female/[text box]" tickybox options. Doesn't truly mess with the statistics (disregard "Jedi" and so on) but shows willingness to engage trans, genderqueer, intersex and other gender and sex identities.
(The first person to say anything about "the PC brigade" is getting a not entirely nonviolent protest to the non-gender-or-sex-specific personal painful area.)
Female checking in.
Strongly agree. For similar reasons, I am always uneasy about questions of sexual 'orientation', whatever that is.
3.2% of MP's are neither or both.
Wow, that is actually an interesting division. I guess I was expecting a more centered number, but I'm not terribly suprised.
Males 2:1. Too bad it's not like that when I am looking for a date!
Then maybe you just need to look for a date on here. At least the people here wouldn't complain about wanting/needing to travel
too many males, we need to draw some ladies here
Girl. girl. girl.
Male here (otherwise I would have to wear a "Jill"* when I played hockey)
*look it up
I want to know who are the 4 people picking the 3rd option!
woman is the nigger of the world... yes she is... think about it...
