Its that time of the year, again......... be sure to be on the lookout for events in your local area. Under the umbrella of Wines of Argentina, the entire month of April is a great time to try the "new" grape variety that is making noise all over the world...... from tastings to trade-shows, special menus at restaurants, make sure to ready up and participate.

For those that are unfamiliar with the grape.... if you are into red wine you cannot give Malbec a chance to show you what it has to deliver...

Here are a few links to read up on what this is all about and whats available in your Area....

Thanks for posting, Gaucho! Next to Syrah, Malbec is one of my favorite wine grapes. It's too bad that the one Malbec event scheduled for the Washington, D.C. area (at the Argentinian Embassy) is "by invitation only". :(

The good news is that the event scheduled for "Neuva York" (at the Brooklyn Bazaar) is much more accessible.

For those of you that are already regular drinkers of Malbec, don't just look at the list of official events. Check with you local supplier of Malbec, as many importers and distributors use this Malbec World Day to arrange for special events with their retailers, and most of these events are not officially sanctioned. It would not be strange for retailers to have special offers, walk in tastings or other promotional features related to your favorite Malbec. It doesn't hurt to ask.

    Enjoy your Malbecs !!!!!

Yesterday (18th) I went to a wine tasting with one Malbec (from Argentina). I asked the fairly knowledgable person pouring it whether she had done any tastings for Malbec World Day, but she had never heard of this special event.

Well, I didn't know it was official, and I can't be 100% certain, but I probably had some Malbec on Thursday night....

Had several bottles of wine amongst friends. At least one was almost certainly a Malbec...

as I said, Thursday was a long time ago... tonight we had a Phebus blend that's 70% Malbec from the Fabre Montemayou vineyard in Mendoza. A vineyard I like a lot for the price point and quality it provides...
