Malaysia Airlines announces Enrich loyalty changes
Not exactly the best time to have the masses of loyal flyers think about flying another carrier.
While timing in this individual case isn't the best, overall there's actually a trend towards "rewarding the highest spenders more" right now around the world as many airlines revamp their loyalty programs to model in which the price paid for the fare decides how many miles can be earned. Cheers.
I have the impression that many of MH's customers are there because MH business class fares tend to be lower than those of competitior like KE, SQ, CX, etc., although perhaps those passengers participate in other oneworld FF programs, with those who credit to MH mostly being Malaysian residents.
No doubt, and I think premium flyers should get rewarded more substantially... the question is whether it should be done at the expense of the masses, or as a complement to a base "a mile is a mile" measurement.
