There is a Miles&More helpline which can help in booking a domestic (USA) reservation using Lufthansa miles program. I just now tried to make a to-fro reservation from SFO to RDU (or to any of its neighborhood airports) for a trip on May 13th to 15th. The rep said they don't see any availability right now, but I can see availability on the United website. The rep further said in a couple of weeks United might release some tickets to its partners, and Miles&More might receive some of them.

Does anyone have experience making domestic reservations on United or any other airline using Miles&More? When would be a good time to check back with them. I am planning to wait and check back with them, but if the said United tickets don't arrive at Miles&More, I will most probably end up doling out more for the same tickets later on.

Thanks for the link. Didn't know these award types earlier :). I see the award type for my dates of travel is "Standard". From the link you shared, I can see that "Standard" is only for UA's FFP.

Is there a possibility some seat awards may change to "Saver Economy"? I am thinking thats a long shot.

Do you think its better to just book with $s?

Just be Flexable., the awards are there to fill empty seats..

Have 52K M&M points that will expire at end of month. Was going to use them to book United for a flight next August but while the award space is available on the United site but M&M says they don't have access yet. Can I book a flight now for a date that is available to avoid losing the points and then change it to the later date when space (hopefully) opens up? Any suggestions?
