I just canceled my US Airways card, I had meant to use it one more time to reset the clock on my miles expiring. I never fly US Air and only got the card for the eventual merger with AA. Anyway, I forgot to use the card. So I checked my account to see when miles expire and to my surprise the annual bonus on the card posted before the annual fee hit. Now if I could just transfer them to my AA account.

Just wait a few months. The programs will merge sometime in the foreseeable future. I hope they do before my 747,000 US miles expire.

In my experience you can reset the counter using the Dividend Miles shopping mall and, when I accidentally let my kid's accounts expire, I was giving a grace period of three months to get them reactivated with any activity (including small shopping mall purchases).

IIRC any transaction counts so even a single mile in or out will reset the clock. Still, I have forgotten miles before  and obviously I am not the only one. The OP seems to have nearly, but not quite, made taht mistake.

Just got back from Thailand ... we spent most of April there. With the kid's school and my work, other than short domestic trips, where can I go? I am trying to book something for December 25th departure returning around January 11th ... any help will be much appreciated! ;)
