    || Lufthansa axes Jakarta and Singapore from Munich ||

This was a real surprise that LH drops out of Jakarta plus, as seen in MUC cancelled expansions have eventually a detrimental impact on the airport and passengers alike. :(

i should be disappointed at this, but since i can't fly them in F on an award, anyway, I don't care! mostly...

Nevertheless, it is a very disappointing development, especially when a major airline like LH drops out of one of Asia's fastest growing cities!

Are they using the same PR group as their friends at United? That "3rd runway" excuse sounds a lot like those recent IAH cancellations UA announced and blamed on future international service at Hobby. The 3rd runway wouldn't had been available for years, so why cancel the flits now and blame them on capacity restrictions?

Someone has to get the blame I presume for flights they wouldn't make! In LH case it remains a real mystery IMHO as to why they "really" have cut all flights in their network to Jakarta, which is nevertheless one of the fastest growing capital cities in Asia today.

Well that would have made the difference in the decision- an F award ticket- let's write to the board! ;) I understand what you mean- however I don't think that will sway Lufthansa group.

They also dropped out of Guangzhou this year which is one of the fastest growing air travel markets in the world.

An excellent point indeed. The "3rd runway" excuse is even more confusing when combined with the fairly significant cuts being made this year to the winter timetable.

That is one way of putting it :). Let's see:
    1) Reduce frequent flyer benefits
    2) Reduce frequent flyer accumulation
    3) Implement major cost reduction program
    4) Reduce flight frequency
    5) Reduce flight destinations
    6) Raise fares
    . . .

You know, it's ironic that this year marked Lufthansa's 45 years of service to Jakarta and Indonesia...

Hard times and there are a lot of frequent flyers. It is very hard to find any available seat in any business or senator lounges in Frankfurt and at times struggle in MUC senator lounge. I think the overhaul is needed.

Not only from them. SQ are downgauging their flights from FRA too. It's hard not to think they can't compete with the Middle East carriers.
