While $10-15k private jet travel is way out of most of our price ranges, wondering if anyone here has taken a look at the air-taxi ImagineAir. Air taxi is still a niche market (and ImagineAir only operates in the southern and eastern US) but we've managed to get full-fare prices (per-seat) to something near a last minute or first class ticket. For instance Atlanta to Charlotte would be ~ $330/seat.

I'm actually affiliated with the company and right now we're doing $1 flight deals (3 seats). We call it "standby" but its really just last minute empty legs.

If you live in the service area and want to apply for an invite to the standby program, use MILEPOINT as the promo code to get the process fast tracked. :)

Sorry for the sort of spam-ish post. I'd post links but because I'm a newb, its not allowed. Happy searching :p

Do you offer miles/points? Otherwise I am not sure I would even look you up ;)

I think you'd find the audience here... difficult (?) to convince with regards to something like this. I can see the value for a last minute flight, especially if you're booking "the whole plane" (3 seats) for a short hop, but there are a lot of cons that come along -- limited amenities, limited luggage capacity, slower travel speeds, etc.

  5. there's a bug in the site re email contact, the security capture feature isn't working properly for me in any case

I figured their bug. Just use all lowercase characters in your email, no CAPS. Email addresses are not case sensitive anyways.

Thanks for reporting on that. I've taken the complaint to the proper authority and those responsible have been sacked (and it should be fixed). :)

Totally understand. Air taxi is not an airline experience at all... and weight can definitely be an issue. As for travel speed, despite the planes flying slower - which they do, the fact that you don't have to arrive at the airport until 15 mins before departure (no lines, ridiculous parking or TSA) make up for it. And usually you can have a rental car waiting for you next to the plane when you land. With that the time savings for regional trips can be huge, probably the fastest thing outside of teleporting. :D

Anytime you post, bold it like I have :D . I'll give up miles to avoid Thousands Standing Around if I really need to go somewhere.

Standby is certainly intriguing. It'd be worth giving up miles/points to shed the hassle. If I understand, if you happen to have empty seats on a flight from xxx to yyy, I could buy one super cheap. That sounds best for a spur-of-the-moment trip that one wouldn't do if not for the standby availability.

If I lived in the target area, I'd take a standby flight just for fun (especially at $1).

If they take credit cards, you can earn one mile with the $1 charge for the flight.

Certainly would do this if in good weather. They fly lower than airlines. I like to know my pilot and the airplane, too. Some companies will NOT reimburse travel on these operators.

In fact, my company explicitly prohibits it for business travel, last I checked.

It's not just a matter of getting reimbursed, it's matter of sanctions for violating company policy.

(I assume the concern they have is about corporate liability for travel with an unknown entity)
