Being LH*G and going to fly from Manchester next week. Which lounge should I choose? The BD lounge or the Servisair?
Which one has the better food and drink options?

I'd say you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The BD lounge food/drink offerings in MAN are nothing special; typically crisps, cheese and crackers to eat, and a basic beer/wine/spirit selection.

I've never been in the Servisair lounge in Manchester, but I doubt it's any better. Perhaps you could visit both and compare the two? :p

Depends which terminal you're flying from. If flying BD, then it's T3. I belive the ServiceAir Lounge is in T1 which is where LH flying in and out of

The Diamond Club in MAN had a lovely feel to it (despite the low snack count)... especially in the days when BMI ran a TATL Service...

As far as I can remember, one can walk between T1 and T3 airside?

No, I don't believe so. Not even landside (which you used to be able to) without leaving the building.

Some lower number B gates approached from T1 and T3 are next to each other and it looks as if you can walk between them but since T1 is international only and T3 is both domestic and international, Idon't think you can walk airside between the two for security reasons as was discussed in another forum.

The SerivceAir lounges are nothing to write home about, but still ok-ish.
At least the staff is friendly. If you ask nicely they will even give you the password for the EK wireless which is next door, as their own wireless service often doesn't work...

I always have problems connecting to wireless in the Servisair lounge as signals from the EK lounge seem to be stronger. Since all terminals at MAN now have free wireless (up to 30 mins in any 24 hours) I tend to go to the gate early after grabbing some drinks (usually mineral water ;) ) in the lounge to use my laptop there.

The BD lounge in T3 has a Business Lounge and a *Gold section, but neither have bathrooms.

    (Much like BA at EDI).

But the one around the corner is pretty ok, although it's open to the public - in fact it's probably the best 'public' toilet I've found in an airport because only lounge users end up going upstairs.

But it's shared between three lounges, two Servisair lounges and the Escape lounge, and there are only two cubicles in the ladies! Presumably the Emirates lounge has its own. [IMG]

Perhaps I've just been lucky to get in in quiet times then! [IMG]

The Servisair lounge in T1 is actually pretty good. The wifi is also a lot better these days, or it certainly has been on my last couple of visits in November and December at least.

The bmi lounge is starting more and more to resemble a ghost town, especially outside of the morning peak. Sad to see really, especially remembering back to a couple of years ago when it would be pretty busy for the majority of the day.

+1 for the Wilmslow Lounge. But probably neither warrant going between terminals to get to...

You can't go to a lounge in T1 if departing from T3 anyway...
