I think there should be a general thread with this title. Sub-threads should include AA AC, DL SC, etc. This is where posters would be able to offer/request lounge access to/from fellow MP's. Thread should have some access restriction, so it wouldn't be abused by lurkers. What do you think?

I'd be happier to see lounge access threads in private or restricted areas of MP. I simply do not feel 100% comfortable guesting a total stranger into a lounge as I would feel implicitly responsible for their behavior. I'm also not real happy about posting my own comings and goings openly on the internet. OTOH, if it's someone I "know" from MP, my attitude is very different and I would welcome the opportunity to meet that individual in person.

Essentially, this is what I'm suggesting. I wouldn't feel comfortable guesting someone I didn't know at their request.

Yes, and I also would not like idea of people joining MP just to get free lounge access. The person should contribute first.

Well, yes. That's why there should be some restrictions set for the access. Gold membership should be a good proof of contribution, right?

As a Gold, I would agree that it's at least correlated but I honestly must admit that Gold is neither necessary nor sufficient for good contributions. This almost reminds me of people who whine that, for example, their airline's FF program should introduce a new higher elite level because it's far too easy to earn the current highest level. Of course, the new level should be set just below their travel pattern, so if they fly 110,500 miles per year, the new super super elite level should be set at exactly 110,000 miles per year as anything less fails to exhibit sufficient loyalty.

I dunno, I may never make gold but have sponsored numerous FTers and MMers
into the RCC/UC over the years. Never had a problem with newbies or oldbies.
Most of these were arranged through the RCC meetings calendar.

I'll check out the calendar when Yahoo fixes the issue.

foxberg, you don't log in to the calendar with your usual login:
there's a sort of "trusted traveler" code.

Ah, OK. I guess one of these days I'll get an access. BTW, is it also discussed on FT? I have a decent history over there.

Sorry, I forgot that some of us are not also FTers. The RCC Meetings
calendar uses FT handles; to get or offer lounge sponsorship, one PMs
the FT user listed. The calendar is Star-specific, by tradition at least.

Posting to the calendar is straightforward. The only thing you need
to know is that if you seek sponsorship, you put a note in after your
    information thus:

3:00 PM LAX T6 user: foxberg (seeks sponsor)

and if anyone else is willing and able to assist, they will get
    in touch with you.

I was unaware of Wandering Aramean's tool and am not trying to
steal his thunder. I'll check it out sometime.

OK, updated both calendars. I guess if someone wants to meet another FTer or MPer they'd send a PM?
