Plane from NY to WAW Crash Lands; 230 Pax unhurt
You dont see that everyday......glad that pax walked away. I have family members who fly that route ALL THE time....fortunately not last night!
Love MSNBC's headline...CRASH LAND seems maybe a bit strong? but I guess tecnhically was it a crash?
I guess the "crash" part works since there was not any landing gear...one of the pics I saw on a different article showed the right side engine on fire, I'm assuming as the a/c slid to a stop..scary...
A colleague and I both flew across the Pond on other carriers' 767's last night...
CNN has video of the belly landing: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/11/0...ding-in-poland-all-passengers-safe/?hpt=hp_t2
It was more of an emergency landing type of crash I guess. I keep telling my family to switch from LOT. The fleet is aging and things like this are prone to happen. I've got most converted to LH, but theres still a few holdouts that love LOT.....if thats even possible????? When CSA took away its TATLs to Prague everyone switched to LOT ....
I think it's EWR-WAW, not JFK-WAW.
I love all the rookie questions coming from the anchorwoman.......
It was EWR.....they just round up to NYC for some reason.
Right - already reported it to get it fixed.
We were talking about many things airline-related as I typed that out.
We can blame the media for reporting it as a flight from NY.......
Thankfully no one got hurt...

That was certainly an amazing belly landing. Glad everyone was okay.
Yeah great job on that landing I must say.
Amazing landing, especially the engines staying intact. Almost looked like they were also scraping the ground.
DL From PRG no good?
LOT does not have spare 767s so I expect them to write off one route after this incident.
They loved their CSA from EWR back in the day. Cant blame them for not liking DL, plus connecting into slovakia is ridiculously expensive, vs flying to KRK either direct or through waw.
They are going to get some 787s in about six months, aren't they?
A very fortunate story. Injuries, yes, but without landing gear, a landing like that is a miracle.
Thanks for the links!
Judging from the pic, I still think it's quite unreal that no one escaped unhurt.
If Boeing can maintain their schedule.... Key word... maintain ... =)
UNASSUMING POLISH HERO JUST WANTS TO FLY AGAIN
A Polish pilot who safely crash-landed a Boeing 767 with 230 people on board recounted on Wednesday his astonishment at discovering that the plane's landing gear did not work, but he said he was keen now to get back to work again.
