So far this thread is just a list of some of my old avatar pictures....
AA supporter forever!
I like that shot -- the just-killed so-so livery, the classic and should be revived livery, and the new "WTF" livery, all in a row.
Lets just buy the rights to the logos and the name and start our own airline. We can operate flights between Raleigh and Toledo.
"These are the good old days."
Is this supposed to be an obituary thread,
or perhaps just a warm welcome to the Doug Parker reign?
I have two photos from the walls at T8 at JFK:
That new livery looks like it should be on an LCC
So what will happen to the livery if the merger with US goes through...???
It will eventually look like this:
I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
The logo should be preserved but one thing added:
A flailing passenger in the talons of the eagle.
I guess this means the entire American Airlines Space Freighter fleet will have to be repainted as well. At least the ones that remained after they ditched the domes and returned to commercial service.
I have no problem with the new logo. It's a good piece of work. The tail on the other hand.....
Yeah,i like new logo...
is that 767..?
I like the new livery just fine.
Was the one we're used to the longest lasting in the history of the industry?
I hope this comes in under the thread topic:
What really worries me isn't the cosmetics, but what I anticipate to be the changes coming to AAdvantage. I can't imagine American persisting so much better than United through bankruptcy/merger, the way they've always watched and reacted to each other over the years. Now by the same token, if they hold the line, which would be wonderful on its own merit, it might bring Mileage Plus back as no amount of complaining has. But that would be going against the industry ebbtide.
Logo is ok, BUT the tail looks like a barber shop pole.
Have not seen in person but the "mica" paint looks like drap gray to me not metalic silver.
I actually like the new plumage. It has taken me a few weeks, but I'm happy with it.
Given the title of this thread, here is a photo of a DC-7 just like the very first one I flew on AA in 1956. I was younger then.
I'm mostly glad the old T8 at JFK is gone.
I'm expecting it to remain with the new one. One which, I really sort of like. I can't see them throwing such a recent rebranding away and since the merger agreement came so soon after the launch of the new livery you have to assume it was discussed along the way.
I'm wondering about the huge advertising blitz AA has been conducting about "the youngest fleet in the sky" given that US's fleet is reported to be older than average. Of course, I thought the ads were premature anyway, since AA still has plenty of ancient planes around. But with the merger, they'll continue to have.
