    Another big order for Boeing..

During President Obama's visit to Indonesia it was announced that Lion Air will order 230 Boeing 737s with an option for 150 more. The order amount (excl. options) at list value amounts to 22 billion dollar. That includes 201 of the redesigned Boeing 737 "MAX" and 29 extended range 737s.

"This deal when finalized will be the largest commercial airplane order ever in Boeing's history by both dollar volume and total number of airplanes," the Chicago-based manufacturer said in a statement.

I am proud as an Indonesian, but not so as a customer as Lion Air is one of the worst airlines to fly in Indonesia.

Don't fly Lion unless you want to get to your destination a few hours later than planned :p

I have only flown them a few times, but was pleasantly surprised. I guess I have low expectations:)

Maybe having you onboard caused them to kick it up a notch. :)

I've flown much worse than Lion Air. I didn't even find Adam Air that bad. :)

I guess I am a little suspicious about such a large order. Unless spread over 20+ years, just seems more than they can logically handle, unless they're going into the Air Asia category.

I can see zero evidence that they can possibly meet this order. Lion has found money when it was needed, but this scale is astounding for such a modest, not very good, player. Indonesia air traffic can only grow, by a lot, true enough, but this is something entirely different. This order will end out in the same place that the Kingfisher orders are now going.

I wrote a short editorial about all of the deals that are funded by the Ex-Im Bank yesterday. Your point illustrates one of the reasons I wrote it.
