Yahoo! Health - 3 Surprising Reasons Not to Drink Soda

I know consumption in the US is high, but did not realize the average person consumes 450 calories/day from soda. I know I drink way too much Diet Coke...try to temper it with lots of water and brewed tea (no sugar) though...

I'd like to tell myself to grow up but I fear too much time has passed for that.:)
If I must; I try to use the soft drinks from Whole Foods.

Looks like an alarmist article to me. Anyhow, the main reason
not to drink soda is the one that was given me in the late 1950s -
"rots y'teeth." By the way, 450 Calories is only about 3 cans'
worth, same as beer. I of course get much more pleasure out of
    the latter and generally do.

Soda is not as healthful for you as wine or water.

The main problem with sweetened soda is High Fructose Corn Syrup. (HFCS).

    A reason not to drink?!

Why is that bad if it reduces the risk of SHC?

If they don't disclose what chemicals are in their secret formulas, no f-ing way I am drinking that.

Dark sludge colored sugar water? Delicious.

I used to be all about soda but as I got older I started to get off the hard stuff. If I must indulge it will be light and natural. Thanks.

Stopped drinking soda over 4 years ago and never felt better. Used to drink at least 2 cans of cola before

Drink Water for all of your hydration needs!

Amazing article. Thanks for sharing. I had a feeling that our modern wheat does not even closely resembles an ancient one that was cultivated by Egyptians.

+ another proof that I made a good choice when I stopped eating wheat and wheat products all together :)

My sister did something similar a few years ago as well. She's lost about 45 lbs and feels loads better as well. She'll still have a Coke (with real sugar) when she comes over to the UK, but her stomach now makes crazy sounds when she drinks any dark colored drinks...

I have never been a fan of sweetened overpriced water. Would rather make lemonade at home

Yes - my sister is old enough to remember the difference before/after they changed it in the US in the 1980's. I just remember our Mom being mad about the change. ;)

Still do not understand why a lot of employers in US forbid consumption of wine during working hours  ;)

If you dont have to operate a vehicle or machinery or are on an options trading desk... then a glas of wine during lunch should be OK. Then again I have a horse in this race...

You can get Coke and/or Pepsi with cane sugar in certain areas of the US. I saw Pepsi Throwback in Miami last week while on a visit there. Costco has Mexi-Coke every now and then. Mexican Coca Cola uses cane sugar. If you live in an area with Mexican grocery stores they may have this product. Lastly, during the Jewish holiday of Passover stores seld Coke and Pepsi made with cane sugar. The bottles have a yellow cap and will be labeled kosher for Passover.

Stock up and you can enjoy the goodness many folks enjoyed before the insanity of HFCS.

Coke is good, with a good whiskey. Ginger Ale is good, with a good whiskey. 7-UP is good, with a good whiskey. Squirt is good, with a good whiskey. Water is good, too, with a good whiskey. I could go on,
But what is tea good with?? Dry Toast ! !

What kind of whiskey are you drinking? Never mix fine hard liquor with anything. Maybe just some water to bring aromas in your whiskey. Mixing fine liquor with sodas just defeats the purpose of fine liquor IMHO. Your opinion of course might differ from my ;)

Well, of course, you are correct. Whiskey, is good with just a glass. Or with just ice, in a glass. Same with a good Tequila. (Love Tequila). But the topic by the OP was soda , or Pop, where I come from, and since I'm not much of a pop drinker, the best way to have it is with??
    You guessed it, Whiskey
