Well, I hit 1000 nights and 2 million points last week. That is a lot of nights away from home, but it also covers rooms when I travel with my family (including next week's trip to the National Championship Game in Glendale!).

    Congratulations!

Actually, Marriott reduced the number of nights needed for lifetime Platinum from 1000 to 750 some years back. I suspect it was the 2 million mile criterion that you finally passed.

Correct. I ironically hit 1000 during the same stay that I hit 2 million points.

I'm just getting ready to close out SPG platinum status and am like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs wondering what will happen during the assimilation.

Me too. I'm Lifetime Platinum with Marriott and Lifetime Gold with Starwood with lots of points in each. I'm also wondering how they're going to merge the loyalty accounts, maybe converting Starpoints to MR points at a 1 = 3 rate? And which benefits stay and which go?

Their initial comments would lead you to believe there will be no devaluation/increase at conversion. All the more reason not to carry a big balance with them.

If they simply merge the Starpoints into MR points at 1 to 1, they are going to greatly irritate many "new" Marriott patrons because of the vast difference in value. I doubt that result is what they intended.

Congratulations!. With the upcoming merger, you have even more reasons to celebrate!.
I cannot see a possibility where a LT Marriott Plat will not be a top-tier with current SPG scheme although that would not matter once the programs consolidates into 1.

Congratulations! I will most likely cross 900 nights before I make the 1.6M needed for Lifetime Gold.
