ticketed BOS-ATL-JAX yesterday, with hopeless upgrade odds, i SDC'd over to nearly-empty flights BOS-DCA-JAX. so, riding seat 1B on the nearly empty CRJ2 on DCA-JAX last night, i pushed the recline button, and leaned back, and oh man, did that seat go back... good thing there was no one behind me, because i was pretty much lying flat on a CRJ2!

the FA and i had a good laugh about DL's new J seats... :)

i was amused.. that is all.

I should live so long to get any comfortable seat on one of those tin cans.

I have not failed an upgrade on a 757 in the memory of man. Well, that is not completely true. It is at least since they put Song back into the can. Even when it is packed, the first class section is quite acceptable to me.

I've got to agree with you on that one, I love DLs 75Xs; but a CR2 with lieflats, now that's just ridiculously too good :D. Well looks like i'll have to try it out for myself :p

As you probably remember, Song sent me over to USAir for the three or so years of its life. Florida service from NY cannot be as abominable as that which was provided by Song and hope to get my money.

I am wondering how those BOS-DCA flights are doing, I ride them alot and they are almost nearly empty. I know the necessity of competing with B6 and US on this route but I dont know how long those CR7s are going to last.

They won't get rid of those flights...even with B6 and US, there is such lucrative business traffic they can prob afford to fly those planes a little empty.

A DL CRJ-700 should be able to compete well in terms of quality on this route. It's a nice little plane, especially in FC.

If DL has a government contract fare on this route, they should be doing very well financially even if the flights look empty.

At least your engines fired and you took off - seriously, the last 4 DL CRJ's I have been on were canceled d/t not getting the engines started.

On my last CRJ-200 flight, which was not very full, an agent kindly agreed to block off the seat next to me as a favor for a DM in a station that I suspect only sees a few DMs. This was the exit row, so I was very happy, even though it was amusing once again to be the only passenger boarding in my zone. I used a drink ticket on board and the FA used the empty seat next to me for snack storage as she was serving other passengers, jokingly inviting me to help myself as a rent payment for the empty seat. Not bad at all!

There not gonna be. DL realized people were becoming too comfortable on their CRJ Lie-flat seats, so they are in the process of taking them all out of service;)

Unfortunately, that has been my recent experience. Returning from MXP - JFK - ATL - ECP (Panama City, FL) I reached the gate in ATL, only to find out there were mechanical problems that couldn't be fixed. Fortunately, they didn't cancel the flight, as it was the last one of the day, but had a CRJ 2 come from Lexington to pick us up. The flight was full of Spring Breakers...maybe they didn't want to strand all those passengers. Who knows.

They might have needed to reposition the aircraft or they might have decided that it would be cheaper and easier to send the plane for the people on your flight. Being stranded with a full load of spring breakers would not have been fun.
