Booked in 1st on flight from IAD to LHR then on to Barcelona in biz class. With 3+ hours in LHR, which lounge are we entitled to use. The info on the BA site is a bit confusing. The first bullet point looks like it would be the biz class lounge, the second looks like it would be the 1st class lounge. Looks like we arrive Terminal 5 and depart Terminal 3.

      • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
      • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.

If your LHR-BCN flight departs from T3 (presumably after the terminal change in October), you should have access to the Galleries First lounge in T3. Make sure you hang on to your IAD-LHR boarding pass to show the lounge dragon if there is any problem with the computer showing how you travelled to LHR.

There will be no access to the T5 departure lounges because you won't have a boarding pass for a flight departing from T5 and you therefore can't get to the airside departures area in T5.

In theory, you also have access to the Galleries Arrivals Lounge at T5 (including the Concorde Breakfast Room for passengers arriving in First), but only if you clear immigration and customs at T5 to go landside. If you only have 3+ hours, you don't have enough time to do this because you then have to get yourself to T3 by a landside route and clear normal landside --> airside security there.

Thanks for the info - great point about the arrivals access in T5. Will do just as you suggest and hang onto the boarding pass for the IAD-LHR segment to show at the T3 Galleries First lounge.
