Lufthansa said it will put one of its new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft into daily service on the Los Angeles-Frankfurt route effective December 10. The newest version of the 747 will accommodate eight passengers in first class, 80 in Lufthansa’s new business class with lie-flat bed-seats, and 298 in economy.

Hmmm....are they introducing a new configuration of the 74H? The current config is 8/92/262, not 8/80/298.

Seems a bit strange given that they have so few of the aircraft. Would make swaps very challenging.

ETA: But I've now heard other confirmation that there will be the two configs. I guess it is for real.

ETA2: Apparently LH is changing the config on both planes, not just one. It is a seasonal thing.

Assuming more in Y to accommodate seasonal Christmas travel? Suspect this will hold for July/August when j travel is less common as well?

Have the seats loaded on EF etc. already?
