LH F or Etihad business

Discussion in 'Miles & More | Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian/Partners' started by pauker, Feb 10, 2011.  |  Print Topic

  1. Booking a one-way from DFW-BLR and am tempted to book the ORD-AUH segment on Etihad in business just to try it out. Can anyone offer any comparison vs. LH F? I've traveled longhaul LH F before and very much enjoyed the experience. It's a better routing and schedule for my purposes, but I'm curious to know if others might think the moderate inconvenience of flying Etihad (in this case) might be worth a better experience. Thoughts?

    Why don't you book EY F ?
I haven't tried it yet but it looks pretty amazing.

Good idea- EY F could be a good option. If it was EY C vs. LH F- easy choice for LH.

After the recent M&M enahancements i feel quite liberated and will try some more airlines. EK is next in March and I want to try EY too.
I have been on QR a few times, whereas I think I'll skip GF.

Actually my BA flight count has increased as well.

  6. A good question. I should have stated that my corporate travel policy doesn't allow F. However, on the particular date and route I'm looking at, LH F is coming in at the same price as EY C, hence I have approval for LH F if so desired. I haven't priced EY F, but I imagine it will be more and thus not something I can justify. I'll check, though.

I doubt EY F is more than LH F.

Unless the company of the OP has a very strong corporate contract with LH, I agree.

I'm really struggling to find attractive BA fares to Asia.

Hmm.. I have not checked- wrong direction for me (backtracking to London to fly East). N. America + Latin America are good bets in C.

CX has had some excellent fares recently in C also (although I have to admit I haven't taken them up on it except once to HKG).

  12. EY F is coming in at nearly double the price of LH F. I guess we must have some kind of contract with them. Interesting to note that the LH C fare was only a few hundred $ less than LH F. In any case, they're both cheaper than either EY C or F.

In this case- LH F is the answer.

  14. Agreed... unless my client decides to travel with me, in which case I'm in coach - even if he's in C/F. Ugh...

On corporate contracts I've noticed LH F and UA F aren't priced that much more than the respective carrier's C. Same thing with AA; on some corporate Int'l C fares they are automatically upgraded to F.

What I find amazing is how heavily discounted C fares can be on LH for corporate contracts.

  16. i wish we had this travel policy.

    Always a rule abider.

  19. LOVE it :)

  20. I knew US carriers did this. I have a friend who works for a major consulting firm, and he gets auto-upgrade to AA F from a J fare, which it turn is already highly discounted. Surprised to hear LH does this, since they're a quality carrier.

Might be part of the UA/LH JV deal...

  22. Those corporate discounts usually exclude codeshares, for obvious reasons.

Sure, but not in the JV where they split revenue.

Have you checked ex-IST? They seem very competitive to PEK/PVG and good to HKG.
