    Dear Delta,

I'm pretty sure the most direct and expedient route for my bag on my ~1K mile journey from LAX to SEA was not on Cathay Pacific from LAX-HKG-LAX-SEA with someone else's name and PNR attached to my bag:

Thank goodness I had SkyPriority baggage stickers so it only took four days to find it and fly it back from Hong Kong :D

But seriously once it went out on CX I really have to wonder how Delta ever found it...

Have you all had a bag take this far of an unintended journey and still eventually recovered it?

How in the world could a mistake like that ever have been made? CX and Delta never share check-in kiosks, especially in LAX, or do they now?

You should ask for MQMs as compensation. :p Or just tell them to make your bags Diamond.

What happened to the 100% bag matching for overseas flights, or does it just apply to USA carriers? Your bag never should have been permitted to fly TATL without you and this should have been caught by some layer of security.

I think DL owes you a flight to HKG to make sure the records are straight and prove both you and your bag were there.

I would ask for original route credit for the bag. Once the bag has its mileage, the bag can have an "accident" and the miles can be transferred to your account!!

I'm not even elite on DL, and when I went to BCN two weeks ago, my bag went to TLV.

So you were flying LAX-SLC-SEA, and somehow in SLC the bag was retagged with someone's tag travelling SLC-LAX-HKG??

    That's wild!

Didn't the OP say the bag had someone else's tag on it?

    Ask for BRC-Baggage Routing Credit?

Yeah, how the mixup happened I have no idea. I was flying back from SYD-LAX-SLC-SEA. My bag arrived in customs in LAX fine and this happened after I rechecked in LAX on the way to SLC.

And yes it has a second tag on it for some other guy's name and PNR on CX. Plus a third tag when they found it in HKG and shipped it back to LAX.

Just glad to have it even without all of its contents present - my new elec razor was missing.

In this situation, I would think you would have a more likely likelyhood of getting compensation for the missing razor. They really messed up big time here.
