    They have the bar area all boarded up and the "food" and beverages on portable tables. This also means that the TV's are missing, so no sports/news. 5-weeks to complete that project. Then they are doing two other projects, which following DL's other renovations will involve squeezing even more people in the space.

    No more self service bar

    They will be removing the self service bar and putting in a bartender :(

    I assume their "premium" booze is making money at the other clubs and so they want to do it here.

    I'm mostly there in the early AM and so the alcohol part doesn't bother me, but it irritates me to have to wait in line for a soda or juice and get the stink eye if I don't leave a buck. If they paid the staff a living wage and put a "no tips" sign I wouldn't mind as much.

    I've got 2.5 years left on a membership when I stop being DM and since most of my travel is international I won't be renewing if they keep this up. I'll just become one of the "moochers" using a credit card to get in when traveling domestically.

    </rant off>

    That is the part I dislike the most. Why they can't have dispensers like they have at DTW along with the bartender, I will never know. I wonder how much their juice/soda consumption goes down with the bartender?

    I dont' understand not having juice, coffee, and water as a ready self serve. It is ignorant.

    At least MSP has some things in the fridge near the bar.

    That is a more recent development. Initially it wasn't there.

    At LAX, you can take the tunnel and use the AS BoardRoom. They have bartenders, but I was told at SEA that it's AS policy to give any tips to charity. There's also a sign to that effect. AFAIK the nonalcoholic beverages tend to be self serve.

    I will be in LAX in Dec. But I'm only scheduled for a 50 min change of plane. I hope I'm early enough to take some time to see the AS Boardroom. Just to say I've been there. LOL

    I wouldn't mind club renovations that make all the TV's closed-captions-only.

    Or club renovations that make some of the guests closed-captions-only.

    Club renovations are complete. I'll post some pictures of the bar area once the zoo clears out!

    A device to zap cell phones would be a good start.

    it looks exactly like i expected it to look -- what was the bar is now the back bar with luxury bar stuff. what was the bar sitting area is now the front bar, and wraps around to the wall on the right side. food is on an island toward the window from the bar. two bartenders, pleasant and not pushing the upsells to those of us ordering alcohol at 10am.
