I'll start off with some pics from my meal on a recent BA F flight (afternoon meal service). Overall a great meal!

Surprised they plated it for you, but that looks great.

I enjoy the domestic Kosher breakfast options. Usually more tastier than anything else being offered with things such as pancakes, french toast (my favorite) and omelettes.

It's a salmon starter. Was very tasty actually!

They have specially wrapped new plates/silverware for use on the kosher meals in F.

I'd order that everytime if the airlines could guarantee it. Last time I ordered Kosher, I got the rubber chicken. At least it didn't kill me. ;)

I sat next to someone in Y once that ordered the kosher meal. It made the regular coach meal look appetizing.

I guess YMMV depending on class of service and airline.

The kosher meal up front on LAN EZE/LIM was one of the most disgusting things I've ever been presented with on a plane.

Ya that definitely doesn't look too appetizing.

Very true, but I think that applies to airline food in general, not just special meals.

I think there was once a day when frequent flyers would order a special meal - at least in Y - thinking that it might be better than the standard meal but that doesn't seem to be true anymore.

Agreed. It really doesn't necessarily matter if it's a special meal or not. Some airlines, or airports, just don't have the same quality caterers as others.

Or in the case of Kosher, it is shipped in, shelf-stable, and will survive a nuclear disaster.

Which is a good thing, because looking at the meal they served you on LAN, I'd say you wouldn't want to eat it unless it was the last food on earth. ;)
