For all those that love Kauai, the Garden Isle, looking forward to viewing tips on favorite places to eat or other tips related to food on Kauai.

I must admit that we do eat something at Costco whenever we stop in Lihue to shop at Costco ... but I am sure that there are much better local gems waiting to be revealed by MP'ers[IMG]

Let the good times roll ....

I liked bubba burger. Not very original, but that was a good burger! I ate at the one near Wailua.

Equally, i like the puka dog (puku dog?) hot dogs. I don't remeber exactly where it was but it was in this outdoor shopping area in Poipu.

    I'm all about classy eating...:)

For those who may be visiting Kauai for the first time, there is also a Bubba Burger in Hanalei up on the North Shore ... which seems to get a lot of visits from day trippers up from Poipu & Lihue ...

We definitely enjoy Bubba Burger, Roy's, and there is a burger joint inside the strip mall at poipu....I cannot remember the name right now. We also enjoy nightly gelato from Papalani Gelato.

It's located in the shopping center that's in Koloa. Same place where Whaler's General Store, Puka Dog, and Starbucks is located.

Halothane, thanks for the info ... my wife LOVES gelato - so I am glad you shared the location of Papalani Gelato in the Poipu area!

So the next time we visit Kauai and take a day trip down from the Princeville area to the Poipu area, we will have to check it out [IMG]. Mahalo!

I am quite fond of their White Chocolate Lavender Gelato!! It's hit or miss on them having it though.

A few weeks ago we enjoyed dinner at Roy's, The Beach House, and Tidepools at the Hyatt. All are in the Poipu area. Although we enjoyed all three, we rated 1- Beach House, 2- Roy's and 3- Tidepools for food, and 1- Tidepools, 2- Beach House, and 3- Roy's for atmosphere. We enjoyed The Dolphin restaurant for lunch in Hanalei. My husband is a big fan of Puka Dog.

The Saimen place in Lihue with shaved ice, Puka dog in Poipu, and Jean George's place at the St Regis...

Here's a picture of Hamura's Saimin Stand, located on Kress Street, off of Rice Street in Lihue. The best Saimin in Hawaii, and inexpensive, at @ $8 for a large bowl! :)

Here's another tip for breakfast while visiting the Garden Island - the Tip Top restaurant in Lihue, see:

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/tip-top-motel-cafe-and-bakery-Lihue

Go to the Tip Top restaurant for breakfast, order the macadamia nut pancakes made fresh from scratch. Pay $1 extra for the macadamia nuts on them. Enjoy! ;)
