Because they've been burning a hole in my virtual wallet and I really like coffee. Now, what to do with the remaining 217,000 SkyMiles.

    A toaster?

Or an economy roundtrip between Atlanta and Charlston, SC?

Believe me, I tried to get some flights out of the miles, but this year it wasn't meant to be. I suppose I'll hang on to them a little longer. Or go for the Bose SoundDock 10, for 66,000 miles.

BE TATL or TPAC with one direction low and one medium if you can find it.

Seriously, if you're spending miles on merchandise, what rates will DL give you for AmEx gift cards? If you're elite and have one of their credit cards, the rates are almost decent.

I take your point, and after the fact it occurred to me too. At least the merchandise redemption includes shipping.

Another option for those without the DL AmEx - redeem for Bed Bath and Beyond gift card, then walk in the store with a 20% off coupon.

    * I admit to redeeming for a BBBY card last year - there was an odd DL AmEx promo where one had to burn at least 10,000 DL miles to then accrue double miles on purchases ...

I have a similar number of DL miles. I just redeemed some for gift cards - got just under .01 per mile. The rest are useful to me for domestic redemptions as I live in the Southeast where DL provides me with many flight possibilities.

    DL miles are great for
    * Business class to Tahiti (they partner with both airlines flying mainland US to Tahiti)
    * Business class to Australia (V Australia)
    * Air France transatlantic, esp. IAD-CDG (booked a party of 4 today)
    * KLM transatlantic, esp IAD-AMS (privatair flight)
    * Domestic and Mexico redemptions on Alaska Airlines

And don't forget they partner with Jet Airways, getting one passenger premium cabin is doable...

Vietnam Airlines has good availability as well.

Was this at the low rate, or the Pesos rate? ;)

I like the hotel option- particularly ICs in large cities (London and San Francisco for example) offer great value.

Partner airlines are only available at the low rate, and I've done AirFrance across the pond the last three Christmas seasons in J on DL miles.

I have a sidewalk, not a yard, and it would look like the grinders fell off a truck. ;)

In the past, the SQ award tickets in FC and J/C were good value (even though they couldn't be combined with partners other than DL). I was amazed to find that availability was reasonably good, much better than the inventory given to *A carriers even if TATL/TPAC routes were restricted to 747s and older seats.

Last week I cashed in 25,500 miles for a $250 BB&B card. Turns out $250 doesn't go as far at BB&B as I thought, so I went back to the Marketplace today to get another one, only to find they're no longer in stock. No West Elm anymore either. I'm guessing the gift card inventory changes periodically? Have they ever had Crate & Barrel? My apartment redecorating scheme hangs in the balance here.
