I have an upcoming trip that will have me arriving at JFK on BA1, presumably terminal 7. My domestic connection will leave from either terminal 3 or 8. The question is: if BA1 arrives on time (17:15), will I have sufficient time to catch my flight at 18:30?

That's tight and if any delays your likely toast. However, if on time no problems. When I flew in on BA3 I was by the T7 taxicabs within 5 minutes of leaving the plane. My advice is to catch the AirTrain (free between terminals) from T7. If next flight is T8 then all good as it is only a few minutes. T3 should be fine too.

  3. I would try to get a longer connection if at all possible.

Kind of an obvious suggestion, but do make sure you check-in online and print out your boarding pass for your connecting flight if at all possible. It will buy you valuable time if things go south.
