Background on JAL previous JAL SkyOnline service: http://jal-pak.blogspot.com/2011/09/jal-to-offer-inflight-wi-fi-on.html

JAL will partner with Panasonic Avionics to introduce inflight high-speed wi-fi connection on its flight. It will first be introduced on Japan-Europe (assuming they can get approval from Russia) and Japan-US flights from mid-2012. JAL will announce the fee next spring.

This is not the first time inflight internet access is introduced. Info on previous JAL SkyOnline service is posted on my blog: http://jal-pak.blogspot.com/2011/09/jal-to-offer-inflight-wi-fi-on.html

It won't be free for elites, the true elites who travel frequently on business trips will pay to stay connected (well those who are workaholics)

True. It also means I'd just stream movies on the plane rather than watching the IFE if it is fast enough.

if it's fast enough is the key and some streaming service only works in certain countries due to copyright reasons. E.g. I can't stream from hulu japan when i m in the US.

    My thoughts exactly!

The captain tells you sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight service.
Not, yo dude surf's up! :p

But I know a few people who would certainly go for it if its not too expensive and others who just couldnt resist.
