So Simon looks like your Malve status actually worths something :D AY and AB are offering similar matching. While it makes sense for AY and AB to match those status, no idea why JAL will offer this and not BA

Either way, should give me another calendar year of Sapphire at the worse.

Will Airberlin Gold be OW EM? I hope so as that might be a good deal too.

Hmmm no point doing more than one. JAL for the Diamond or Sapphire for another year and Airberlin for Emerald.

Yes. I`ll be flying on an upgradable fare to Aus twice this year so that shouldn`t be a problem.

My Emerald expired at end of March, they were slow at with the Gold card so i suspect some people wouldn`t have got their new status cards.

Should be fine. It says nothing about your residence or address.

I`m not even sure why JAL is matching given Malev never flew outside of Europe. It makes more sense for BA to match or Fin Air.

i don't think u will be able to get matched but worth a try. It sounds like they will check your status with your number as you only need to provide your membership number not the card

I believe they only ask for number not the card because they can verify the status. Either way you will be exposed IMHO

Okay just to share with you how things are going. Emailed JAL Japan and they are looking into the matter and advised it will take a week to investigate. Air Berlin are refused to match Emerald to Emerald and not stating a reason which doesn`t make any sense when you look at what is written on the OW website about the match
Giving someone OW Sapphire is hardly enabling them to retain their top level Emerald status......
