Once again the question of whether JAL and ANA should merge was brought up. Dr. Inamori stressed that JAL should remains independent in the next few years to keep air fares down. Unless the environment changes.

um...ticket is expensive enough in Japan already  So we are good for at least few more years :p

Hmmm, we need two large carriers, so we can go on colluding in terms of prices while pretending to compete...

    awesome [IMG]

The LLCs will trash that model soon enough.

I would love to see their price drops but on the other hand don't want them to become those legacy carriers in the US charging for almost everything. Oh wait NH is charging for drinks already :p

With Skymark and NH's new LCC (aka Air Fragile :p) entering international market, things could change

I vote for the LCCs to take all the cheap passengers away, so we get more room [IMG]

I seriously hope Skymark will go first. I hope their A380 fleet will bankrupt them :p

But if they become successful, maybe there will be more reasons for JAL and ANA to merge. Although I will be more complicated by that time when the JBVs are in effect

But there's one thing I like about NH's FFP. They require their top tier elites to earn certain amount of their PPs on NH flights [IMG]
