J Award ticket : is Y segment eligible for upgrade if space shows up later?

    Sorry for the confusing title, but I have a J award ticket (pre 11/16) on Lan that had one segment booked in Y due to no space at booking. Space is now available, am I eligible for the J seats? Or, is there a fee?

    Don't know. Have you tried ringing BA to ask?

    Did you pay full J miles for your award or did you pay J miles for all segments except the Y leg?

    Paid full J miles (pre 11/16 rates of course) for the entire award, but one segment just didn't have availability at the time of booking.

    I will give them a call to ask, but I was hoping to know the answer before I hear what the customer rep says.

    So what did BA say? Any luck changing the ticket?

    Moot point for me because inventory disappeared when the Executive Club phone lines opened up again. Also, flight was leaving within 24 hrs.
