Definitely a call to Alex aka Gaucho. If you want to experience the best Argentina has to offer in wine, you must make the call (or at least a PM)

The itinerary looks very good. Punta del Este is going to be very quiet the time of the year you are going.... are you looking to party or what is your game plan....? Punta is a lovely place, but if you want to go to the beach then manage your expectations because it can be windy, cool and the water is also nothing like the tropics..........

Also, it would be nice if we knew what your specific interests are..... that way we can assist you further.

Thanks for your reply. We are mid thirties and really enjoy nature. We love hiking and beautiful landscapes. That said we also enjoy fine dining and luxurious accomidations. I was wondering if we should add an extra day to Ushuaia and skip Punta Del Este? Thanks again for any recommendations!

I like the Uruguay leg but would recommend the ferry to Montevideo (MV) from up near Tigre and across delta of Rio de la Plata. Punta del Este is a cool resort area but MV was was more interesting to me.

Colonia on the Uruguay side is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Many great jazz clubs + some fabulous Italian restaurants (in addition to all the many other local places) in BA.

I second the suggestion to spend a day in Colonia de Sacramento, UR. Pretty little town.
