won't last long, grab it while you can!!
VIP even cheaper!!
Saw that the other day. But the location is a big downer.
How bad is the location? Can you take the ferry to the European side? The hotel itself looks reasonable, and that is a great rate.
Have not looked into it too much. We are staying at the Doubletree Old Town this summer so that we have a central location.
I think u can, and according to the hotel, the subway station nearby will be open later this year, it should be fairly easy to get to the old town......
Where does 7.5k come from? Cat 5 is 35,000/night in this Chart
Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree,
Embassy Suites Hotels, Hampton, Hilton Garden Inn,
Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton
Hotel Category 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Points for One Free Night (Standard) 7,500 12,500 25,000 30,000 35,000 40,000 50,000
Don't know, but I checked dates for this summer, and they came up 7,500 points per night.
It's close to a ferry terminal, so the location isn't bad communications wise. But if you do want to see the sights, i.e. the Sultanahmet area, then it will take you some time to travel each way.
Moda is a very nice residential area, one of my favourite areas in Istanbul. It is worth a stay in its own right, and the hotel looks fabulous. At 7.500 points I am tempted to try it myself, even if my sister in law has an apartment nearby.
Thanks for the update. We like to stay a little longer, and take our time seeing things, so it sounds as though this is a good hotel for us. For example, we might stay 8 nights, and have some time for the pool every day as well as some sightseeing. Now I have to look for reasonable airfares.
It sounds like a good plan! The ferries are very enjoyable in the summer (outside of rush hour), so make sure you get some cruises. There are also some islands where the locals go by ferry to picnic and relax.
It's been fixed.
I switched to Marriott a while back and can't remember the rules on altering a res [esp as a low-rung Silver]. I need to lop off a night. How should I handle this - call in? or take a 7.5k loss? TIA.
I saw this a couple of weeks ago but got turned off by the location of the hotel. Kinda should have though...
Just call in. Normally it is no issue. However, with this being a "mistake" rate, it may be different.
Thank you for posting this, ysb41! Here's my on-going thread / trip report.
