We will be flying Island Air from Lanai City (LNY) to Honolulu (HNL) then connecting to a Hawaiian Air (HA) flight on a separately bought ticket from HNL to LIH.

    1) Will we be able to check the luggage thru to Lihue from Lanai?
    2) How will the baggage fees be calculated? Will they just be charged by IslandAir or will IslandAir collect twice - once for them and once for Hawaiian Air?

Looking forward to your kind assistance.

I'm not sure if you will be able to check through but I can tell you that if they do, you'll pay only the Island Air charge. If they don't you'll pay twice if you don't have status or fare class that gets you out of it. This also holds if the ticket is issued by someone else and also if it's a code share. I'm elite on United, booked a United flight number on Island Air but when I got to Island Air with a bag, there was no such thing as United anymore. It's all Island Air rules.
