I've been all over different blog and someone mentioned that you can book an award travel from HNL-LA-TOKYO-LA-HNL but you can keep the HNL-LA-LA-HNL at a later date? unfortunately I cant find where I read this post, so maybe someone from here can explain if this is possible. Based on the post, since AA allows you to stay in the US within the 330 days, you can actually book the award travel and then call back and transfer the 1st leg of your travel HNL-LA to the middle of the trip instead of the beginning of the trip, the flyer is actually originating from LA but just booking the HNL-LA and LA -HNL because they are the same mileage points. Wouldnt AA cancel your 1st leg if you dont use it or can you really transfer the date of the 1st leg of the travel and use it later.

I hope I am making sense.....
