I'm going to be on the LAX-BKK-DPS in two weeks. I heard TG is switching the BKK-DPS to 744 3-cabin aircraft. Any chance of getting into F later this month?

I don't believe the switch to 3-cabin aircraft happens until March 27.

I hope once they change it to a 3-class service, they won't do too many last minute swaps. I think I must've had at least 4 different business class seats on the last 8 segments I took. The worst was the very old style recliner with no personal TV or even a foot rest.

I think it will be a 3 class aircraft sold as 2 class...

Is that what they do when a 747 is on the SIN-BKK flight? I've only taken SQ between the two places.

  7. very interesting if they do.. F Seat in a TG 74 is a sweet way to get to Bali.

Upper deck in C isn't bad either. As gleff said, it's not in operation until Mar 27th, so looks like I'll miss it in 2 weeks time.

If they plan to use a 747 all passenger then any a/c swap would result in a better seat. :)

A340 on the route was kind of fun -- no real difference in seat / service. But a plane I hadn't been on in awhile. Don't forget the dimsum in the lounge.

do they block off the F cabin, or do they let some J passengers sit in the F cabin with J class service (a la CX from DPS - HKG on the 744).

I was wrong on this. Looks like there are indeed selling it as a 3 class flight.

You were actually correct! Depending on the day, they're selling it as a 2 class aircraft. For much of July they're flying the 74A and only selling Y and C. I just noticed that I unfortunately got downgraded from F to C.

Friends were flying IAD-FRA-CDG-BKK-DPS... they were alone in the F cabin for LH IAD-FRA and TG CDG-BKK. Their BKK-DPS flight was downgraded from a 747 to a 2-cabin Airbus. TG met them after their spa treatment and gave them $$$. Then on the return DPS-BKK their 747 was upgraded to a 744. Ah, TG... :D

I am interested to know the amount of $$ they received from TG for the downgrade. I was recently dowgraded from F to I on BKK-NRT.

So those of us that were booked in F but now C might receive downgrade compensation at the airport?

That seems to be the current practice. An envelope of foreign currency on your way out of the country.
I was still able to enjoy the F lounge along with the spa treatment ,which is excellent . However, I wish they would fulfill their end of the deal by providing transportation in the class of service I was ticketed for.
Yes, this applies to *Award tickets too.

Thanks for the info. This will work out perfectly as I am only spending the night in BKK and then heading off to DPS. Will actually stay in BKK on the return home for a few nights. Would gladly accept 9000baht for each of us but like you said....I wish TG were more reliable when booking first class and having all kinds of plane swaps. Who knows, it might be a 3 class plane by the time we depart.

Yes, my partner was given US$300 in cash for the downgrade on both outbound and inbound flights.
