Certainly part of LGA are as ancient as earth :) Joe Biden's excessive use of hyperbole is well known :)

Been to the main terminal? In this case it's neither excessive
    nor hyperbole!

Filthy, check. Smelly, check. Agressive hawkers spilling over into
the pedestrian areas, charging exorbitant sums for subsistence
items, check. Potable water hard to find and/or costly, check.
Goons all over the place who make up laws on the spot (not just
the TSA), check. Disgruntled masses waiting to emigrate, check.

Some others have been even harsher than Biden.

The director of the Port Authority (which runs it) said in 2010

It should fundamentally be torn down and rebuilt again.

The Governor of New York acknowleges this and [as if he can!]

wants to take over the rebuilding.

I've seen no other first-world airport like it. Okay, Terminals C in
BOS and IAD may be nearly as horrible, but LGA takes the cake.

Last I was at the main terminal, Piedmont Airlines was still around. So you are correct, I have only been to terminal D or the Art Deco, Marine Terminal !

YES! YES! YES! I recently was diverted there and when flying home to LAS from CMI (don't ask). I ended up having to spend the night in NY and was scheduled on a JFK-LAX flight in the AM. (kind of nice since I had a FC ticket) We arrived at 11PM and other than the place being filthy and dark, the luggage carousels made an excruciating noise, their was not a cab to be seen and the 'safety shutters' were being close. After calling a cab, which required sitting on the floor to charge my phone (thank God I was able to find that outlet after looking for 20 minutes) I was going outside to wait and slammed my face into the door which resulted in blood pouring out of my nose to the point where I thought it was broken. I can't remember any other U.S. Airport where the doors didn't open automatically. Luckily the door wasn't damaged as it must have weighed 500 lbs. Frankly, I have never seen a third world airport that bad.
