Now that I have SFC status from credit card, I have been wondering if it is worth crediting miles to ANA from spend/flights.

I don't really fly enough to get enough miles for awards, miles expire after three years, and ANA charges fuel surcharges on award tickets.

Any reason I shouldn't credit to United/Continental instead?

yea the reason is you can't cuz you will be flying OW exclusively from now on  :p

But make sure you know the deal about UA's changing program before you commit to it...

Very true, maybe on both points :)

I have about 70,000 miles with CO though, and my wife has about 50,000.

Non-expiring is a huge plus for us, as most of our energy is going to be focused on JAL ;)

One nice thing about NH and JL is that you can exchange their miles for travel vouchers at a not-totally-awful rate, so even if you aren't getting enough mileage for preferred award tickets, you won't go away completely empty-handed. The other nice thing is that they are very cheap for Japan domestic and short-haul international awards. I just flew from Tokyo to Osaka and back for something like 8,000 JAL miles. Granted it's a very short flight, but I would have had to pay at least 20,000 yen to buy that ticket out of pocket (probably significantly more since I wanted to fly mid-day).

It's セクスィー部長 from the NHK show Salaryman Neo. Search on YouTube to see him in action.
