I am stopping by SFO for a short while and will be meeting a friend, who is not flying that day, at the airport. Since the delta sky club is before security, is it possible to invite them as a guest even though they are not flying? I have delta club membership. This got me thinking if it would be possible to go "hang out" at pre security clubs (like JFK terminal 4 clubs) with membership access when not flying?

I can't think of reason why not. Though I have not tried it myself.

I think officially the lounges in airports are for people who are flying, but you do not need to be on DL or SkyTeam or show your boarding pass, only your membership card and photo ID. It should be OK as long as you don't do this all the time and go to the airport for free drinks regularly.
