    From the FAQ's page......

....If you read a post that you find informative, humorous, helpful, entertaining, etc, you should "Like" it to encourage more such posts. Liking a post is also a great way to give someone a "thumb's up" without having to add another post to the thread, thereby reducing the clutter and making the thread easier to read. Likes are one of the components that are considered in the attainment of milepoint status.

Does this mean giving OUT likes? Or RECEIVING likes? Or a combination thereof?
And if this has been asked before, sorry - just point me to that forum/post.

    thanks![IMG]

It seems that it is receiving that gives the status, not sending. Of course it is hard to receive if you don't give .[IMG]

People like to like likes. I like likes and others like likes, giving and receiving.

To try to seriously answer the OP question (though who knows why! ;)) if you receive a like it will help you in your status travels. If you give a like to another member, that will help them in their status travels ... I do not believe you giving a like to another help you in your status travels... however only Al Gorithm knows for sure!

So for you to receive likes you have to post. The more you post, the more opportunity others will have to see your handiwork and to like it. Not all posts will always receive a like.

The likes are like real life. When we receive, we get something tangible and we all like to receive. However, there is a greater intrinsic value in giving, both likes on milepoints as well as giving in real life.

Everyone benefits when we give. We experience the joy of giving, everyone else is a recipient of our giving. Be a giver and you will also receive more.

And a way of thinking about this is, if you like something, just like it, because it doesn't cost you anything. It's not like (pun not intended) we are in a competition to see who has more likes. :)
