OK... so my Iphone 4 seems to just lose data conectivity and refuses to go back to data mode... I have to shut it down and then restart it... when I do so, I get back data coverage right away..... Im having to do this some 3 - 4 times per day..... any ideas on whats going on...???

I have not yet updated the OS..... is this perhaps to blame....?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Hmm that shouldn't be happening though it sounds like a software problem and not a hardware one if it works right after a restart. Try to reset network settings (General -> Reset -> Reset Network Setting).

I've had this same problem as well. Don't know if it's the same cause, but it only happens to me if I try to access data when I'm just moving out of a WiFi area (usually walking from my apt to my car).

It sounds like you're running Windows on your iPhone. It's standard procedure for windows to lock up or have a component freeze and require a reboot. Maybe Apple is finally learning from Windows.
