Hi guys! I am looking at going to Laos next year. As far as I can tell the only international flights into Laos associated with a major alliance are: VN via Hanoi/PNH (Sky Team) TG via BKK (Star Alliance) Am I missing any/does anyone know of any others? I know I can book a cheap(ish) ticket from the LCC's in SE Asia but if I can include it as part of my redemption I may as well! Thanks, Foo
While Wikipedia isn't the most reliable, you will see options into PNH via Star, SkyTeam and Oneworld is all possible: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phnom_Penh_International_Airport Into LPQ, you have Vietnam Airline on its own metal once a day. -tfd
Thanks! PNH is in Cambodia. I have been there and will go back so I have saved that wiki page Looks like Star Alliance and Sky Team will be my only options into VTE.
That was definitely a space cadet moment for me. VTE has service with China Eastern and Vietnam Airline for SkyTeam and Thai Air for Star. Nothing with OneWorld.
If you'll also be traveling around the region have a look at a Discovery Airpass offered by PG and QV. It's not as good as flights inclusive of an award, but it's a close second.
Thanks! I forgot about the airpass. I of course will price out normal tickets since they don't in include departure taxes or YQ. The BKK-Maldives is a very interesting option on this. Domestic flights is Laos can save me days on a bus so I will look into that as well! Foo
Air Asia services Vientiane from Kuala Lumpur. It's a rather inexpensive flight. You might have an easier time finding an award flight to KUL and then paying for your onward journey to Laos. I would recommend going to Luang Prabang as well.
Thanks! I'm planning on LP, plain of jars, and VTE. Maybe tubing too not sure yet. Saving Don Det and 1,000 islands for another trip
