Screen capture below. Gargoyle's message is "Just a nibble..." but it wasn't displayed right. But it was fixed after he sent me another message and I switched to another tab. No idea how to reproduce it. I believe it could be a safari problem not really a MP problem. But I will report this just in case.

    Config: Safari 5.0.3 (6533.19.4) on Mac OS X 10.6.6, screen resolution: 1440x900

Edit: Safar has crashed twice since. Both of the times when I was typing a message and is on the 2nd line of the text box. I have firefox 3.6.13 and iphone logged in at the same time too. (don't ask why lol)

I wonder if there is some unusual coding in the chat window, and if Safari can't properly interpret that code.

Just got the same issue again. This time the issue was fixed after I have opened a new tab and a second or two before I received a new message from Gargoyle. Then after I minimize and maximize the chat window again, the problem is back. I tried to type him another message and booom Safari crashed! :(

Maybe you could try a different browser? [IMG]

He was running firefox and safari at the same time, both logged on here. Do they share a javascript engine, and if so could safari have gotten confused?

Definitely not sharing. Safari and Chrome both use the webkit rendering engine, though I don't know whether it goes as far as JavaScript.

But it does look like Safari did get confused! :D

It's a good thing for you when the safari gets confused.

I've had a couple odd issues with chat formatting that also self-resolved (Safari 4.1.3, OSX10.4.11), I'll grab a picture if i reproduces since it looked a little different

One thing I noticed is I have minimized the chat window when the message arrived and the display is messed up like the captures in post #1 when I click on the user's name to display the chat window again. But this is not reproducible 100% of the time

I just crashed JALPak's safari again. It seems there is a problem with it and the chat function. Is there some chat code that could be either non-standard or that Safari can't handle?

It first has the display problem a couple of times and everything was back to normal. Then I started typing. When I hit the 3rd or 4th character in the second line, it crashed. That's what I have noticed so far

Bufferin throwing up is more likely.

I had it constantly stacking the messages on one side like pictured above last "night". The first time was jackal pasting, but then it just randomly started happening frequently... didn't crash Safari directly though. (I beachball'd Safari a few times to the point of having to force it closed though, perhaps that was from the chat.) I have captures but they don't add anything that the others didn't. I didn't see any pattern, but at least some of the time I could fix it just by minimizing the chat window. Not sure what I should be watching for that might be informative?

Perhaps that it a status benefit? The ability to block people from chatting with you? [IMG]
