I've been using jajah.com for years now, and its literally saved me thousands of dollars.

I don't work for them or nothing, just figured that it may help someone else out as well.

Not great reviews on android app. Any negatives that you can think of or benefits over other similar services?

I've found jajah to be great quality, however have never used the android app.

The mobile website and blackberry app both work great though.

Looks like same thing as jajah

Havent used it though. Have spent hundreds and hundreds with jajahbthough.

Does poke allow for initiating the callback via SMS? Or is a browser o app necessary?

It does call back to any phone you wish, browser not necessary. Although I have been using Google voice lately which seems to work well also.

I used Grand Central when it began, and sometimes use Google Voice also, but seem to be tied to Skype, maybe because almost all my contacts are already there.

Am I missing something important by not looking at other options?

IMO they all seem to work fairly well so it may come down to price. Since I am usually tied to a computer it is easy for me to use Google Voice through a browser.

Thanks. I am in a similar spot, but for all the people already on Skype.

    Here's how I use jajah:

I have a spring unlimited international data plan for my blackberry, which is a CDMA/GSM device that functions almost everywhere (well every country i've been in but cuba).

I then have a cheap, very small, unlocked GSM phone, which I buy a prepaid cheap sim card for (with free incoming calls).

On the blackberry, using the jajah app, I go to one of my contacts and hit call this person with jajah, and my unlocked GSM phone rings with the free incoming call. Jajah bills me a few cents a minute.

I guess I have to carry 2 phones, but thats a small price to pay to save hundreds of dollars a month off international roaming (spring charges $2-$3/minute, and I use a few hundred minutes a month).

I've been using Jajah for a few years, I'm very happy with it. I set up "local" numbers, a very nice feature- you get a local phone number to dial which connects you with the overseas line.
