I stayed a few nights on points + cash

As an RA, got a junior suite with harbour view, mini-bar, fresh fruit / water everyday, Lounge access, movie, early check in, late check out.

This is just incredible for this property, I even had guests in the lounge and was not charged more.

Oddly the Intercontinental Grand Stanford (GS) is 50k points and the better HK is only 45k

The service level is quite high at both properties but rooms, location and grounds at HK are far superior, though I think the lounge at GS is a bit more "clubby" which I like.

This message is specially for all the "doubters" of the worth of Royal Ambassador.

There might be better hotels in HK but the view and above package were awesome

Do you think one could get the same benefits if the room is booked on points only?

yes, I have heard it is no issue but for USD70 plus a few points, a true bargain

however I do believe this sudden show of generosity by an HK hotel no less could end at any moment

I used to live there so not too many pictures taken

Here's the junior suite we were upgraded to a couple of years ago. Talk about a bargain! We stayed six nights. One free with the RA, one free with the credit card, one free with a weekend 3 for 2 deal, one paid on points. And on the two real money paid nights we got the travel agent rate, a steal, for the lower room category. Total cost was like under $200 IIR.

Best part of that view was we were there in December ... And enjoyed full force of the Christmas lighting, lasers, and formal show! Wonderful!

Nice! Unfortunately I have never been upgraded to a full harbor view. Just a partial one. :(
Of course I am just an IHG Platinum and not an RA.
