No, FT mods don't count. They are still off limits. This thread is dedicated to insulting the MP mods that you hate.

Do it now, because when/if there are mods here this thread will undoubtedly be locked.

One I can't stand is "Swatter". Swatter loves to hand out suspensions for language which he considers unacceptable. That includes such terms as "darn," Geez", and "heck".

Swatter, however, feels that there should be no restrictions on him. He particularly hates the Internal Revenue Service (don't we all?) and a typical Swatter post reads:

"Those damned idiots at the un-American IRS are a bunch of failed McD hamburger flippers who can't count to 11 without taking off their shoes. It's time that the government closed down this disgraceful, disgusting, agency and sent all of these mental retards into the streets where, if they try hard, they might be able to qualify as bums."

You could easily sub TSA for IRS in that sentence.

Or is that part of the "joke"??

It is actually very simple -- this thread is about what types of things (if any) that a moderator might do which bother you. IMHO, it is best expressed now, before MP has any moderators (or ambassadors) so it can not be a personal attack on one of them.

Hopefully, it will avoid problems before they ever happen.

MP has the advantage of learning from the mistakes that were made on FT. My pet peeve is the moderator (and there have been several of them) who discipline others for the very things that they, themselves, do. Perhaps you are bothered more by something else. If so, invent an MP mod like "Swatter" and talk about how he does whatever annoys you.

I'm not defending Moderators - just because I happen to be one on FT. But at the end of the day, Mods are volunteers. They are also members. More importantly, (and while some might disagree), the mods I know and deal with are all human, and thus prone to making mistakes. I know, unbelievable but true.

The thing that I find interesting about human behaviour online within the frequent flyer community is that if someone has a problem with another person - they are quick to vent in the public forum, rather than reach out via PM or private chat. Maybe I am hoping for too much.

At the end of the day, there are a few people (mods included) who take life too seriously. The last time I looked, this was a hobby, fueled by enthusiasts who share the same interest.

And it could be a very good, useful discussion, if you hadn't made it so specifically personal about one particular individual. [IMG]

I agree. If someone has a problem with an individual it is best to try to resolve privately. If that doesn't happen, then move to the next step.

I hate it when a moderator performs "favors" for a few members first in person and then eventually online. It becomes rather sticky when one tries to report one of those members posts to those types of moderators.

If you feel that there is a moderator who hands out suspensions for using language less offensive than that which he regularly uses, then I can see why you would think this is about him/her.

Personally, I can think of at least three of them and "Swatter" is a combination of all three. I would not be in the least surprised to learn that there are more than three. Indeed, the individual you have in mind may not be one of those I was thinking of.

In any case, I am certain that you agree with my premise -- that a mod who suspends others for doing what he or she also does is a detriment to the board for which he/she works.

You should never, ever, expect better from me. Not only am I the King of the Typos, but in recent years I have spent a lot of time in Georgia (where I am right now) and that, of course, automatically negates any English education I might have gotten in the past.

Hope you don't mind, but i'll pass along a comment from one of our members re: this thread. And there are several more like it: "How is a thread like this reflective of MP's aim to be a less hostile, more warm and friendly community?" Got myself asking the same question.
