So, I just completed my first stays over 10 (3 nights at the Ritz New Orleans) and when I was checking my account to see that the stays post, I notice that it says I am Gold. I thought I needed 50 stays to be Gold. Any insight into this? Am I misreading the status levels and you are Gold from 11 stays to 50 and Plat from 50 to 75?

    Thanks!

With Hilton, there are ways to make Gold with just 4 stays.

Did you sign up for any challenges? I know the Gold Challenge is generally 10-12 nights, so that could explain it.

I received the same email. I stayed 12 nights in 4 weeks time at the end of last year.

I'd change the OP's title here to:

    I'm a Gold after 13 stays? Elated! :D

I got the same email, and I only stayed at a Marriot 3 times last year. It shows that I have 3 nights this year. I haven't stayed in a Marriott since December, and that was only for 1 night. I'm certainly not complaining, especially seeing as I have a few Marriott stays coming up.

regarding Marriott's MegaBonus right now; am I correct that they consider a "stay" as two consecutive paid nights; to earn a free night after two stays?
    Thank you

A stay is checking into a property and staying at least one night. Any sequential nights at that property, even on multiple reservations, would still be part of the same stay.

thanks for the clarification. I saw on Marriott's website for the MegaBonus they state a "stay" is sequential nights. Was a little confused as why they would require two nights.

In particular, something like a paid night, followed by a free or award night, followed by another paid night all at the same hotel would be only one stay.
