An illegal immigrant worked undetected at Newark Liberty International Airport for 20 years, and used a dead man's identity to acquire a top position in airport security, officials said. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162...20-years-at-airport-security/?tag=re1.channel The revelation came the same day that the Inspector General's Office of the Transportation Security Administration released a report saying that TSA officials at Newark Liberty took corrective actions in fewer than half (42 percent) of the security breaches shown in its records. The OIG also said TSA does not have a comprehensive oversight program in order to collate information on security breaches and, consequently, cannot monitor trends or make improvements to security.
20 years, not a bad record and it seems IMHO, he isn't that bad either, or has he done something wrong beside coming illigal into the US to have a better life, he protected people at the airport nevertheless! This has to count for something!
Last time I checked, identity theft is a crime. Admittedly, I'm a bit tainted over this sort of thing because I've been a victim of identity theft and one of my sisters has had her information used by a male illegal immigrant not once, but twice...she received a tax bill in their names...
Waiting for the murder victim's family to press charges. None of the background checks included checking the SSN against people who have been reported as dead?
As someone who has been subjected to many background checks, I do find it that someone, with more than a mundane position, in a security service would not have something similar checked. Heck, even for a US passport I had to provide a birth certificate...maybe Global Entry did a more thorough check when I went through that process??
My guess is 20 years ago (pre-9/11) the attitude for background checks was very laidback vs. today where it's just passive.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grupo_Bimbo it's a widely used name in central/south americas - They are on a buying spree in this country buying up mid size bakers - watch their stock if you are into speculation.
"Illegal immigrant," perhaps but just "illegal," I agree with you. To just say "Illegal" is mostly grandstanding.
