IHG warns of terrorism risks in the Middle East
Terrorism in the Mideast NO WAY!
must have been the masterminds who run IT at IHG that came up with this conclusion
At least they sound informed.
Well Cuba survived, and so will ISIS, it is noting more than a religious crusade, I remember when the Christians were doing the same thing,...
We must love one another , and do not forget to give your offerings, to our noble cause...
Onward Christian Soldiers..,,
Are you 800 years old?
Crusades, Period = 1096 – 1272 A.D.
Methuselah in our midst.
No Obama made references to the Cristian Crusades,
I just roll with the punches, as man changes his position with his job, and beliefs, in an effort to divide.
I find it best to go with the flow, and keep my eye on my own goals.
Been here almost 75 years..,it is a changing world.
Cuba is a sovereign state and the Cuban revolution had its roots in Christian teachings of equality, solidarity, and concern for others. It is the US policy that supported the Cuban dictator Batista (who became President March 1952, after seizing power in a military coup and cancelling the 1952 elections) and his cronies that drove the Cuban revolution into the lap of the Soviets and the Warsaw pact. In fact, Castro traveled to the US in 1959 to explain himself to no avail. To start out with, Castro tried to unseat Batista by legal means in 1952, but the system was so rigged he had to resort to armed struggle to rid his country from corrupt dictator who had very lucrative links to organized crime and allowed multinational corporations to dominate the Cuban economy at the expense of the Cuban populace.
Equating ISIS with Cuba is wrong as Cuba itself has been the victim of repeated terrorist attacks by US-based elements.
Do your research and find out! http://www.upi.com/Archives/Audio/Events-of-1959/Cuban-Revolution
As for ISIS, who created ISIS??? The power vacuum resulting from removing strongman Saddam in Iraq and the Saudi-Turkish (our "allies") conspiracy to topple the Assad regime in Syria created this monster. Mercenaries (Jihadists) paid well by the medieval kingdom of Saudi to start out with to the tone of $3K a month per fighter (plus room & board of course ). This continued until ISIS seized the bank of Mosul and stole millions of dollars in currency and became self reliant.
How many terrorist attacks were directed against IHG in the middle east? Worldwide?
You will have to look long and hard to find a more aggressive country, than the United States of America.
Welcome to Elis island, we have work for you,l and yet they still make the journey
It is not the American people who are the aggressive ... it is the dominant unholy alliance between corporate interests and the military-industrial complex that drives our foreign policy. Starting with United Fruit Company through the Seven Sisters and continuing with Halliburton, KBR, and others ... if only Americans knew, but the truth is out there if you do your research.
Use to be about the very 20 years we started a war, to unite the country, keep the population under control, and keep prosperity.
We as a Nation was built on slavery and the backs of others.
Our politicians fight each other and get paid well doing it.
Head you lose, Tails you lose, guys like me make the best if it, and roll with the punches hoping not to get bruised.
HAL, SLB and many others have their ups and downs..whatever the politicians push, ride the waves, what more can I say.
Ever wonder why oil is so cheap and ISIS has control of it at the moment, reality is it should be at an all time high,
ISIS is in control of some of the Syrian oil fields and an oil refinery in Baiji, Iraq. They are selling the oil to the Turkish at half price. The Saudis, on the other hand, are increasing production to bring prices down and as the Russian government is alleging to help the West punish Putin for his Ukrainian adventure.
Tit for Tat. Just like children or adults who can't have enough, which of course presents longer term problems for people who want to live their daily lives on the ground, for them it isn't surreal at all, it's their daily life. Everyone seems to look after their own, driving wedges into the world's societies. A sad picture emerges.
Wow, this got political fast. Anyway, to the point of IHG being targeted by Islamist terrorists; a couple of hotels (& markets & clubs) that I have patronaged were hit by terrorist attacks that killed anywhere from a handful to scores. It does happen. Especially at higher-end properties like Intercontinental, or just places where Westerners frequent.
It sounds like IHG is just demonstrating its knowledge & showing responsibility for its members. After all, if one of their properties got hit in the Middle East, you can bet that they would not only be decried for not warning their patrons, but would also face hundreds of frivolous lawsuits, especially from the States.
There was the 2008 attack on the Oberoi Trident and the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotels among other places in Mumbai India by Pakistani members of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Both hotels are Indian luxury chains frequented by Westerners, I believe. And then there was Al Qaeda bombing of the Islamabad Marriott Hotel in 2008 (as shown in the movie Zero Dark Thirty) and the 2009 JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Hotels bombing in Jakarta, Indonesia. Of course we all remember the 2002 Bali bombings that was directed against Westerners (in and around clubs & markets?) but not necessarily hotels.
