This discussion is designed for those who are looking for a status match from the frequent guest loyalty programs of which they are currently members to the InterContinental Hotels Group Priority Club and Ambassador frequent guest loyalty programs.

I'm interested in going the other way -any success stories of using PC status to get comped into other programs?

There have been reports of PC status being matched, but the problem with matching from Ambassador and Royal Ambassador to other programs is that neither have to be earned - you can buy Amb and get referred to RA. I'm sure some chains would be interested in matching earned RAs to one of their higher tiers, but they have no way to know if you earned RA through 100 nights at an expensive RA, bought it for a few hundred dollars on eBay or were given it by a friend.

No idea about whether PC will match from other programs though.

  4. I have gone through this, Hyatt do status match require a copy of your stay history and Hilton also, RA to diamond they both offer you the challenge, stay 6 or 12 nights within 2 months.....

Thank you for contacting Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service. I
appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Regarding your inquiry, currently a Diamond Trial Offer is available.
You will receive trial Diamond membership for 60 days. However, you must
complete 12 nights in 60 days to maintain Diamond tier through February
of 2012. You will also receive 1000 bonus points on your first six
eligible nights within 60 days, up to a maximum of 6000 bonus points.

  5. PC does status match, I recall getting PC upgraded to platinum years ago after providing SPG Gold (which comes with amex plat anyway) but they did ask for stay history, the rep handling it was very pleasant.

  6. FYI this is from other forum

The folks at SPG want to give advance notice to the MilePoint community that there will soon be a change in policy regarding status match requests from competing frequent stay programs. Starwood Preferred Guest is evolving its policy on status matches to Platinum to a Stay Challenge format beginning April 1, 2011.

Any contacts regarding a Stay Challenge offer will be done via email to the Platinum Concierge department. Any member wishing to apply for a Stay Challenge beginning April 1, 2011 can contact them at platinum.liason@starwoodhotels.comin order to request consideration.

Members will be advised on the full requirements of their Stay Challenge and then contacted to advise if the Stay Challenge has been met. Should a member not successfully complete a Stay Challenge, they may request another once the original Challenge has expired.

I asked for PC gold status match (which I know doesn't have that much in amenities), based upon my Hilton silver (which I got on a promo bonus sign up and haven't used). I was up front and told PC that I didn't get my silver through stays, but that I do have a number of stays lined up with IHG and therefore would like to have gold if they would give it to me. They status matched me anyway. It took three e-mails back and forth, but I guess it was time well spent.

Follow up to my last post... 1,000 point gold bonus just hit my account. I registered earlier this year thinking I would be 'going fo gold' the traditional way, but was pleasantly surprised when they gave me the 1,000 points even for the status match. Thanks IHG! Goes to show it never hurts to register for a bonus. You just might get it!

Thinking of switching to Priority Club from HHonors Gold due to the wider choice of hotels here in Asia. What would I get? Where to apply?

I just requested a status match using the priorityclub@ihg.com e-mail address, and then they responded back with a bunch of questions I answered. Took a few days at most.

After a few days, I got a request for a print out of my HHonors Statement (which I PDF'd off the website). A few days later, I was given Priority Club Rewards Platinum status. But… they expect me to earn 50 nights in the remainder of 2011 to requalify for Platinum in 2012; clearly an impossibility. So, it looks like I might get to enjoy this benefit on any stays this year, but I'll be back down to base level in 2012. A somewhat worthless status match, I think. Any worth to the Gold status offered for purchase at $50?

Heck. I got Plat in 10 nights this year....

Remember every point counts for re-qualification - that can come from stay bonuses, promotions, TopGuest, shopping, the works.

The $50 upgrade.... basically means you're earning bonus points on your stays. Now if your stays are coming in at the high amount, you might find that a kick-start to getting more points.

To be honest I can count what I had when I was a Gold Elite at the HI Aerial (an updated room with a TFT telly and a pint at the bar), and near enough nothing at the HIX at Zurich Airport (apart from a bad back from that bed).

Of course I had my welcome water and sweeties at the Zurich HIX and the US/Canadian stays for being a PC member....

I'm in the same boat as you. I might try requesting a status match again to see what happens. Didn't stay at a PC property yet this year... I don't really see the benefit though, I like HHonors Gold status since it gives me upgrades PLUS breakfast/lounge access. PC Platinum doesn't give me guaranteed lounge access/breakfast. The only problem is Hilton properties are rather lame..

I had a weekend where I was able to stack some promotions where for a $149 Ambassador weekend certificate redemption, I was able to get 10000 points for the stay. Getting to 60000 points is not that hard if you take advantage of the promotions they offer

I'm a little late on the draw on this one but I was researching this issue and found an interesting website that walks you through it all. http://statusmatcher.com/

It seems like it might be a little dated but the information should still be accurate for the most part.

Got us both status matched to PC PLat in Dec. We got e-mail saying that Mr.Nacho will be PLat utnil Dec 2013 and Mrs.Nacho will be Plat until Dec 2012. Then in Jan. they changed us both back to club level, after several e-mail exchanges IHG saying that it's an honest mistake. No apology whatsoever, then Mr.Nacho requested to be put back to Plat and they did. I didn't bother - and I think I'll try again in 2013 or so. Since this is pretty much a one off thing, is that true?

I just had some good luck with getting a Priority Club status match to Platinum, with my Marriott Platinum status - it went quickly and smoothly. I called 1-888-211-9874 and talked with a rep., who had me email a screen shot of my Marriott status to him - we waited for the email to go through, and he adjusted my Priority Club status right then, and ordered a PC Platinum card to be mailed to me. Status is good until Dec. 2012.
