I was running some errands in North Arlington this afternoon, right underneath the final approach flight path for EWR... then the planes stopped going overhead, turn on the radio in the car and voila... PSE&G transformer failure in Elizabeth, NJ causes massive power outage downtown and Newark Airport is affected.

They still hadn't sorted out all of the power issues by 11pm, when I arrived this evening. CO's lower gates (70s) in the C1 concourse were still dark at that hour, illuminated only by a scant few emergency lights, portable work lamps, and handheld flashlights. All of CO's staff in these gate areas should be commended for their effort during this evening's international rush. When I passed by, the staff at Gate 72 had just pushed CO114 to LHR from a completely dark boarding area.
The power outage made for some unusual (if not a bit creepy) photos...

The file upload interface is great, by the way!

Good time to steal a blue carpet (for your CO FFers), while they still exist! :D

I wonder how many people have a basement or an attic complete with airline seats as a couch? And various aeroplane memorabilia all around...?

I think all my friends expect to sit on airplane seats when they come to my house... but so far there are none for them. Maybe that's something I can work on every week... bringing some home with me ;)

EWR764 thanks for posting the pictures. That's one of those things you'll never experience again (well hopefully :) )

I think when I finally buy my first house I'll make sure to have one "aeroplane" inspired room and one "automobile" inspired room... complete with airliner/car seats, some sort of coffe table or a lounge area with a curved ceiling... various airplane/car models, and books/literature on the subject.

If I had a theater in my home, I would procure the old CO BF seats and use them as the seats in the theater :D

Yes with power so you can use the recline feature, turn on the massage function, turn on the reading light, etc!

After receiving an EUA, the fabulous Mrs. Xyzzy and I had a great flight. During deplaning, the FA wasn't l:cool::cool:king and we managed to get them out of 1L and onto a baggage cart. The rest is hist;)ry!
