Well the first things that have happened are:

    - new furniture and carpet in a couple of suites (1417 for one)
    - new TV provider, with HD and many more channels
    - high staff turn over...
    - lounge food has taken a step in the wrong direction, looks like the lounge is not a priority right now.

next up starting in June or July will be new carpet and furniture throughout. New lobby on the ground floor.

Sucks to hear about the lounge, although maybe not enough people are complaining about it. I guess seeing a renovation in progress is better than just knowing the hotel is terrible -- I've always done the Ws when I'm in town because the IC never looked like a good value for the money.

He lounge was never awesome. For me, I am fine with no lounge and just eat elsewhere. My wife on the other hand likes the New Orleans lounge.

They ran out of espresso last week, so I ate breakfast in the restaurant. Food was fine, service was excellent!

Some of their suites are terribly, terribly dated. The reno is needed!

So they'll be moving the lobby down to ground level? That would be a welcome change, too!

    More management leaving....

Lounge has taken another step down, food quality / selection...

Lounge service is now at a true low point!

Good news is that things can get better....

Wow, and the lounge had been one of the worst I'd experienced, based on food specifically...too bad :(

It can only get better... Or go altogether.

I don't have much use for a lounge in this property anyway. Ready for Singapore!!

So that's why I can't seem to book the dates I wanted late this Summer or is it just sold out. I wonder.

Hotel will be closed from mid June for 6-8 weeks to start the renovation activity. Most of the staff are very un happy....

Note that reservations are still be taken, but the hotel will be closed! They will be looking for other hotel to place people in while closed. The new management company do not seem very focused on staff. We all know that happy staff make happy customers. Un happy staff make ????? Customers.

That's crazy... there's no notice on their site and it actually let me go through with (almost) booking a reservation in June. The corner suites are almost $500 a night, and I know I would be entirely unhappy if I made plans around my stay and it turns out that the hotel is closed and they walk you somewhere else.

Not that there are any comparable IHG properties anywhere in New Orleans.

Not sure on the exact closure dates, but probably after essence festival...

The queen hospitality suites room 1217 is one of the best in my view.

    1417 is another good one.

Any update on the renovations? Have you stayed here since then, man on the move.? (It seems you virtually lived there :))

We've got a trip back to New Orleans in January and I'm probably going to book here as my last hurrah in my final year as RA but curious to hear what's changed...

I have no info, tried to book in three or four time recently, and stayed at the cp or indigo instead. Hotel showed fully booked.
