    Dear Mr. R Tape,
Spring is in the air and with it comes fresh new benefits for you as an MVP Gold member. During the past year, we've been working closely with our partner Delta Air Lines to develop a suite of unique elite-level benefits for our most valuable customers. We're excited to offer you the following benefits when you travel on Delta:

Complimentary First Class upgrades within the U.S.*, and between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, and select Caribbean destinations
Two checked bags free for you and everyone booked in the same reservation
Delta SkyPriority™ benefits, including exclusive security-line access at over 40 airport locations
Priority boarding and preferred seat assignments

Our partnership with Delta also allows you the opportunity to earn and redeem miles to 369 destinations in 67 countries. We hope you'll experience these benefits first-hand the next time you fly Delta.

You may now commence whining about how you never get your upgrade.

Where do MVPGs stand in priority for DL upgrades? How likely are we to receive them in theory? Or, better still, from those who have already been using this benefit, how likely are we to receive them in practice?

I've had 6 domestic DL segments since November:
    SEA-JFK
    JFK-SEA
    SEA-MSP
    MSP-MCO
    MCO-ATL
    ATL-SEA
The only time I've been upgraded has been on the JFK-SEA leg. However, based on my NW experience, if you're flying ex-MSP or DTW to a smaller station, such as RDU or PIT, you're likely to have a better chance.

Now if they would just extend those same benefits to AA flights!

I have snagged 3 ex-MSP since the official rollout in November and one prior: MKE, OMA, LAS, LAX. Never to MSP oddly enough. Without bringing up my FlightMemory that is ~40% of eligible flights as an MVP on U and T (cheap) fares.

I have had bad luck with upgrades on DL this year.... Well, all the routes I have flown were elite heavy routes, so I guess that is expected :(

Sometimes, I wish LA people were poor :)

ok, so HOW do you get preferred seating? I have a flight on Tue eve, from BIL to SLC, then SLC to SEA. The only seats that show up on the SLC to SEA are middle seats in the very rear, yet if do a dummy booking for full fare I see all kinds of preferred seats open plus aisles. My ticket is an AS ticket but check in on Delta. (btw, the Skywest flight shows totally booked, seat to be assigned at airport)

After clearing security at BIL I asked the GA why my status did not show on my boarding pass, so she took my ticket entered my info twice and got rejected twice due to a name difference (??) but the third time it took. No upgrade but it did allow me to board early. (wasn't worried about boarding early so much on the BIL SLC flight as being able to board early on the SLC SEA leg) When I got to SLC I was standing in the priority lane with a friend that has status and was upgraded to FC when I heard my name being called. It was my brother in law! He was also in FC .. what a coincidence! He said he wondered why they gave him a funny look as they asked if he was me (we actually have the same names, although my first name is the feminine version of course, his is the masculine). I did get put on the upgrade list, but I was number 24 on the wait list for FC, so I sat next to a nice Father and Daughter in 37C while my friend and BIL sat in FC.

BIL didn't give up his FC seat so you could sit with your friend?

LOL nope, I would have declined anyway though. Turned out to be not so bad where I was, on an aisle and the person next to me did not do the elbow dance (pokey pokey) on my side :)

Thru the advice of another MP'er, I called DL in regard to a reservation to request my upgrade. The itin indicated upgrade eligible for one segment, but one wants it to show upgrade requested. So a quick call to DL fixed that as I could not select that option online- its for the redeye SEA-MSP on the 2nd of May... looks empty so far ;)

I got a discount on Economy Comfort SEA-AMS and back. I think they only charged me one way, but both seat requests stuck. Shh.... $60

So, did you still drink your $60 worth of liquor each way? Bonus!

I'll let you know in October when I return. I was horrified they charged for Bailey's when I flew to SYD a couple of years ago. At $7 per drink, I'll only need to drink 9 :)

Don't know how many airlines have rootbeer, but try a 2/3's glass of rootbeer topped off by Bailey's. Tastes like a rootbeer float.

    Good summer drink.

Now if only DL consistently waived the same day change fee. Not a published benefit but it has been waived on several occasions

Caught a CR9 upgrade tonight DTW-AUS (DL). Was nice... that's a longer flight, domestically.
